Home Grocery Delivery – Which one is good?

Home grocery delivery is all the rage now. More and more people are turning to the convenience of having their groceries brought to them by one of the many services. My wife and I fall into this category. As two people that love food, we have had so much fun and greatly enjoyed the convenience of arriving at home to our food. We decided to test them out!

BLUE APRON

We started off using this service. We loved Blue Apron at first. Getting everything in the mail was amazing we were extremely surprised with how fresh the ingredients were. The ingredients only make a certain amount of food too so it was awesome to be able to have the portion control. The hard part was that a lot of these recipes were very eccentric. Super veggie driven and had interesting spices. It was cool the first week but not exactly sustainable for the long term so we decided to give some services outside of Blue Apron a try.

HELLO FRESH

We decided to give Hello Fresh a try after we had a little too much of all the weird recipes from Blue Apron. While the ingredients were fresh, the portions sizes on Hello Fresh seemed to be a little bit smaller. I am fine with getting proper portion sizes but don’t you dare short change me. Bad Hello Fresh! They also had some interesting spices that they oversold in the descriptions on their website. A cool aspect of Hello Fresh is that they offer premium add ons to their meals. We tried the lobster ravioli upgrade which was amazing but kinda takes away from the whole less expensive aspect of the home grocery delivery service.

HOME CHEF

We switched to try Home Chef last to round out the tour de force of the home grocery delivery meals. This came as a recommendation from a coworker at my wife’s hospital. Thank god we did because this one kicks ass and is the one we are sticking with. Your first week they send you a binder to hold all the recipe sheets you get. Plus there are significantly more meat options with bigger (but not over done) portions of meat. Home Chef also has a lot more options to choose from for your meals for the week. You can filter out low cal, gluten free, etc. You can even have them send you a cheat meal too. I saw chicken and waffles on there one week. This kind of sealed the deal for me in making this a sustainable option.

So there you have it Fort Worth! Get out there and eat! Or get stuff delivered to you and make it! 🙂
